Weber State Cultural Affairs cultural life and performing arts education on the Northern Wasatch Front

You are here:

Dear Friends,

Choreographer Donald Byrd, this season’s Hurst Artist in Residence, visited campus last Spring and spoke eloquently of the role of the artist in a community. He asserted that one leads a “considered” life through reflection on what we encounter - especially art - and a process of self definition based on that reflection.

Performance that is active for both the artist and the audience! Looking forward to the 2008-09 Cultural Affairs Season, I am struck by the opportunity it provides for interesting discussion and self reflection sparked by remarkable performance. From the charged subject matter of the Scopes “Monkey Trial” to the wacky and wonderful Tomas Kubinek. I hope to see you in the theater and look forward to hearing your thoughts on what you encounter there.
