Although their repertoire isn’t vocal, the Berlin Wind Quintet’s instrumental feats speak much in lieu of lyricism. Formed in 1988, they have been traveling across Europe, North and South America, Israel, Australia, and the Far East, and finally landed here in Ogden on October 9th at Weber State University’s Allred Theater. Critics have agreed that this group has redefined the classic Berlin wind quintet and in 1991 they scored a deal with Swedish BIS Records—a company commended for their strict standards. Despite their witty disclaimer that they were feeling “a bit winded from Utah’s altitude”, the ensemble managed to put on an excellent show that resonated in the ears of all attendants.
